Advantech Wins Electron d'Or Award for Industrial and Network Computing Architecture (INCA)

1 year 2 months ago → Conferences and Awards

Advantech, one of the leading global manufacturers of customizable telecom computing blades and multi-core network platforms, announced that it has won the prestigious 'Electron d'Or' award. Advantech’s INCA system was selected as the most innovative product of the previous twelve months in the category of sub-systems.

The Electron d'Or awards recognize true innovation in technology, and in particular products that are likely to have a significant impact on the market and future applications. Recipients of the awards are chosen by a jury of industry experts, in conjunction with the editors of ‘Electronique’, the leading French electronics monthly magazine published by ‘Groupe Tests’. This year marks the twelfth annual award presentation and there are prizes in 14 categories. The awards were presented in the headquarters of the French Federation for Electrical, Electronics and Communications Industries in Paris, France.

“We are honored to have received the Electron d'Or award," said Paul Stevens, Advantech Telecom Sector Marketing Director, who accepted the trophy on behalf of Advantech. He congratulated the teams involved and added, “INCA is the fruits of an inter-company initiative focused on designing a simplified version of MicroTCA for wider cross-industry penetration. The product was conceived at Advantech’s R&D lab in Amberg, Germany led by Peter Marek, Director of Technology in close collaboration with Elma for their chassis and backplane expertise, and Gateware who led the firmware design. In addition, the processor and carrier hub blade was built on Advantech’s Taiwan manufacturing lines making it a truly global team effort.”

In addition to the overall technological appreciation behind the laureate, INCA was awarded the Electron d’Or for its broadening of the addressable market and its overall simplification leading to wider accessibility and use.
