Tail-f's Mike Klemens to Serve as Panelist for High Availability WiMAX at MicroTCA Summit

3 years 3 months ago → Conferences and Awards

STOCKHOLM, Sweden and LEESBURG, VA – May 24, 2007 – Tail-f Systems, the leading software developer of XML-based network management software, today announced that Mike Klemens, Vice President of North American Sales, will serve as a Panelist on High Availability WiMAX at the MicroTCA Summit in Baltimore, on May 30. As a long-time embedded systems expert, Klemens brings significant experience to the discussion of wireless systems development using MicroTCA.

“Our panel will focus on implementing WiMAX with MicroTCA for high-availability military and defense systems,” said Klemens. “Such systems make particularly good examples because of stringent requirements and the catastrophic consequences of down-time.”

The panel on high-availability WiMAX, subtitled “Taking it to the Edge,” is part of a tutorial on wireless system development using MicroTCA. The tutorial is organized by Tim Summers, Digital Systems Manager, Freescale Networking in Europe. It will demonstrate how MicroTCA is ideally suited to wireless system development because of its low cost, small size, high performance, high maintainability, and scalability. The tutorial will discuss the application of MicroTCA in a variety of communications systems with an emphasis on rapid development, flexibility, and cost/performance tradeoffs.

Tail-f has focused on delivering high-availability and clustering capabilities in its ConfD software. The integrated configuration database in ConfD can store configuration data in redundant locations with a replication process that is fully configurable and nodes can share some or all of the common data. This capability allows customers to develop network management approaches aligned with a wide range of high-availability architectures. To deliver on the promise of scalable performance, developers can use ConfD's database clustering capability to view multiple blades or appliances as if viewing a single system.
