Norristown, Pa. August 2009 - LCR Electronics, a leading manufacturer of high-end military, telecom and commercial enclosures as well as EMI filters and electronic products, has expanded its existing line of AdvancedTCA (ATCA) systems to include three new rugged chassis. The new chassis offer increased design flexibility in a wider array of industrial, commercial and rugged military environments.

All of the new models conform to MIL-STD-810 Method 514.5 and MIL-STD-167 Type 1, para. 5.1 for vibration as well as MIL-STD-810 Method 513.5 for acceleration, making LCR's ATCA systems ideal for airborne, shipboard and mobile applications.

The Gemini, built to PICMG 3.0 Rev. 2, and the KBWD, built to PICMG 3.0 Rev. 3, are both 13U chassis available in dual-star 14-slot versions or in mesh 3-, 5- and 7-slot configurations. Also built to PICMG 3.0 Rev. 3, the 12U KBWD-2 features a dual 6-slot design, with each electrically-isolated, full-mesh backplane featuring four node slots and two hub slots. All three use an intelligent platform management bus (IPMB).

Both the KBWD and KBWD-2 dissipate up to 300 W per slot with dual redundant fan trays and rear transition module (RTM) cooling. The Gemini dissipates 200 W per slot using a single fan tray with RTM cooling available.

The Gemini incorporates a power entry module (PEM) with two hardwired 50 A circuit breakers (CB) for A and B bus power. The KBWD and KBWD-2 use pluggable, smart, redundant 100 A CB PEMS to provide power through both the A and B bus. An optional MIL-STD 461 filter is available on the KBWD-2. Each uses a standard -48 VDC ATCA power input with options available for the Gemini and the KBWD.

The units can be used as a standalone unit or mounted vertically in a standard rack system. Side-mounted slides on the Gemini's lower portion eliminate the need for a 1U chassis slide unit when mounted in a rack system.

The Gemini weighs 50 lbs, the KBWD weighs 82 lbs and the KBWD-2 weighs 80 lbs. Operating temperature for all is -10°C to +70°C.

Pricing starts at $19,750 per unit in low volumes. Delivery is 10 days ARO, depending on requirements.
