Allied Telesis' Power over Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet WebSmart Switches Go Green

6 months 1 week ago → Industry News

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Allied Telesis has launched the eco-friendly versions of its AT-FS750/24POE, AT-FS750/48, and AT-GS950/48 PoE Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet WebSmart switches. These switches offer even greater power efficiency enabled by Allied Telesis' proprietary ECO-Switch technology which also allows network reliability through Web-based management software. These products replace those of the same name.

The enhanced versions of the AT-FS750/24POE, AT-FS750/48, and AT-GS950/48 Power over Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit WebSmart switches integrate Allied Telesis' ECO-Switch technology to optimize the front panel of the switch by allowing LED indicator lights to power off when they are not in use. ECO-Switch technology embedded in the software of the WebSmart switches automatically turn off LEDs after 15 minutes. In addition, the switches employ "minimize and measurement" technology to ensure only the minimum power is driven into the shorter cable lengths, to significantly lower power consumption and maintain highly efficient power supplies in enterprise networks.

Nick Paredes, product marketing manager at Allied Telesis, commented, "We're listening to our customers and responding to the demand for more efficient and reliable switch technology. With this flagship family of WebSmart managed switches using the ECO-Switch technology, we reduce our carbon footprint, pass along the energy and cost savings to the customer, and give our customers peace of mind that their networks are reliable and secure. Not only are our PoE, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet WebSmart switches highly functional and use significantly less power, but now they are more compact than predecessors, meaning fewer materials are needed in the manufacturing process and less fuel is needed for shipping."

Allied Telesis' WebSmart switches deliver networking reliability in a cost-effective, simple manner, allowing IT managers to implement Web-based management features such as port-based virtual LANs, IEEE 802.1p QoS, port trunking/link aggregation, port mirroring, priority queues, and IEEE 802.1x security support at the edge of networks where security and reliability is paramount. In addition, all the products are now either fanless or integrate a lower noise fan.

The new AT-FS750/24POE, AT-FS750/48 and AT-GS950/48 products are available beginning this month.
