3 years 3 months ago → People

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - June 4, 2007 - Imagine Communications, developer of the industry's most powerful and scalable digital video platform, today named Mark Davis as VP Engineering - Network Systems and Support.

"Mark is a seasoned veteran with over 24 years of industry experience. He's worked as an operator and a technology provider and knows first-hand the challenges and priorities of our customers - he's the perfect addition to our team," said Imagine's President & CEO Jamie Howard. "Mark's expertise will be critical as we expand the reach of our digital video platform, and move from trial to deployment stage with multichannel TV operators," he added.

Davis joins Imagine from BigBand Networks where he was VP of Engineering - Network Solutions Group responsible for sales engineering and solutions design team assisting customers with CMTS, VoIP, switched digital video, simulcast and other media processing solutions.

Before BigBand Networks, Davis was Vice President of Network Engineering & Construction with AT&T Broadband's (now Comcast) Atlanta Region, where he was responsible for planning and implementing AT&T's network technology platform.

Prior to joining AT&T, Davis was a founding partner of UrbanMedia Communications, a Silicon Valley-based telecommunications start-up company offering commercial broadband services to multi-tenant office buildings, where he also served as Vice President of Network Engineering & Construction.

At Cox Communications, Inc., Davis was Vice President of Engineering - Telephony Technology where he played a key role in the successful launch of both commercial and residential telecommunications services. Davis led the cable industry in transforming a traditional coax cable network into a highly reliable full service network by promoting a route-diverse fiber ring architecture.

Davis began his telecommunications career in 1983 with Contel Telephone Operations and served in a variety of network design and outside plant engineering roles.

Davis earned a Bachelor of Science in Technology from Georgia Southern University and is a member of the Institute of Electronic and Electrical Engineers and the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers.
