American National Standards Institute (ANSI) approves RapidIO Interconnect Specification 1.3 as a new ANSI standard

AUSTIN, TEXAS, March 27, 2007 – The RapidIO® Trade Association announced today that The American National Standards Institute (ANSI®) has approved RapidIO Interconnect Specification 1.3 as a new ANSI standard. RapidIO technology is an established, scalable, packet-switched, high-performance fabric specifically developed to address the needs of equipment designers in the wireless infrastructure, edge networking, storage, scientific, military and industrial markets.

“The approval of the RapidIO specification as an ANSI standard is further testament to the technology's market momentum,” said Tom Cox, executive director of the RapidIO Trade Association.

“The ecosystem is strong and OEM developers have a solid based of products for use in their designs.”

Accreditation by ANSI signifies that the procedures used by the standards body in connection with the development of American National Standards meet the Institute's essential requirements for openness, balance, consensus and due process. The American National Standards process includes consensus on a proposed standard by representatives from materially affected and interested parties as well as broad-based public review and comment on draft standards.

ANSI is a private non-profit organization whose mission is to enhance U.S. global competitiveness and the American quality of life by promoting, facilitating, and safeguarding the integrity of the voluntary standardization and conformity assessment system.
