Polaris Networks collaborates with Pigeon Point Systems to demonstrate its range of xTCA Testers at the AdvancedTCA Summit in Santa Clara

4 months 4 days ago

Lexington, Massachusetts, November 12, 2009 – At the AdvancedTCA Summit, being held at the Santa Clara Convention Center from October 27 to 29, 2009, Polaris Networks, a leader in Telecom Test Tools, demonstrated its ATCA, MicroTCA and AMC Testers. These are the only automated test solutions to test Hardware Platform Management and IPMC Firmware implementations to PICMG specifications and are widely used by system integrators and manufacturers for their internal testing and QA of ATCA, MicroTCA and AMC based building blocks and systems and also to attain Communications Platform Trade Association (CP-TA) certification.

At this event, Polaris partnered with Pigeon Point Systems (PPS) to participate in the xTCA SlotFest interoperability demonstration. California-based PPS (an Actel company), a leader in providing management solutions for ATCA, MicroTCA and AdvancedMC based systems, has worked closely with Polaris Networks in the development and validation of the xTCA Testers. The companies exchanged their respective products: PPS provided Polaris Networks its Shelf Manager, Carrier Manager, and Module Management reference implementations in various form factors and Polaris provided its xTCA Tester suite to PPS. These facilities were used by engineers in each company to comfirm compliant operation of the management controllers and tests, so that telecom equipment manufacturers and system integrators can have confidence in the compliance and interoperability of best-in-class xTCA products validated with xTCA Testers and based on Pigeon Point management solutions.

“We have been delighted to have Pigeon Point as an early user of our ATCA/MicroTCA/AMC test tools”, Bud Biswas, President, Polaris Networks commented, “and their comments have helped us in making our products useful to a larger body of customers. In fact, having new hardware from Pigeon Point Systems helps us stabilize our test tools through repeated testing.”

Mark Overgaard, president of Pigeon Point Systems, stated that “our collaboration with Polaris has advanced the shared goal of ensuring interoperability and compliance in the hardware platform management subsystems of xTCA products; our major customers who use Polaris xTCA Testers in their product qualification appreciate that we routinely provide xTCA Tester logs as part of our release deliverables.”
